I cannot picture myself wearing one. But each to his own.

I've been sitting on the fence over this one. Being an admitted traditionalist, I must confess that it wouldn't be my first choice. However, since the kilt itself is in the process of being re-invented... why not the sporran?? Before the image loaded, I was imagining that I'd be looking at a traditional sporran done in aligator hide.

Hmmm. Now that I think about it, my Mother used to have a purse made out of a small gator with the head on the flap. Wonder if she still has it.

I have seen plenty of fox head and badger and other various animal types. Given that who is to say that some old Scottsman did not find himself in down south in the US and after killing a large gator, would not find himself thinking that "wow the paw on this beast is the size of my sporran"
humm maybe i can make a sporran out of that thing.

Given that being from Alaska I am going to make a bear paw sporran, if I was from Florida, I might have made an aligator paw (flipper?) sporran.

    I'm glad I'm from Alaska.

Oh, but the sporran IS also being re-invented, Blu!
They are aleady available in masses of bright colours in leather and (fake) fur and, in fact, I am currently awaiting delivery of an 8 yard Camouflage kilt - together with a plain sporran covered in the identical camo fabric. Rest assured I will make a photo available ASAP.
