How tragic that a man honoring those who had fallen before should be murdered performing that sacred duty. Our hearts go out to our neighbors to the north.

I'm sickened to learn of a soldier's death. Even more personal for me when it is a member of the ASH regiment with whom my family has connections to, with the original U.K. 93rd. RIP and thank you for your service.

I know that this forum wisely shies away from political content, so I will only state that the free world needs to stop attempting to be tolerant towards the intolerable.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo's family as well as our Canadian friends as they morn this senseless loss.
Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. I'm planning to wear my kilt tomorrow for the same reason.

Edit: When I was in cadets, I several times stood vigil at cenotaphs during Remembrance Day ceremonies. Few things are held so commonly respected in Canadian society as the sacrifices of our military.
I don't know if the targeting of the War Memorial guards was chosen in order to intimidate and dishearten Canadians, but if so...
they chose the wrong bloody target.

A totally shameful act that deserves total condemnation from every decent human being.

I'm wearing a poppy, a black watch tartan jacket and a tie in the Argyll & Sutherlland Highlanders colours. The A&S Highlanders are the sister Regiment to the Cape Breton Highlanders.

It seems the individual responsible was shot and killed so his actions were hardly tolerated. I don't think anybody can accuse the Canadian response for being a bit "soft". Also, in a similar case, fusilier Lee Rigby's killers were shot and wounded, then given life terms in prison - again hardly tolerance. I'm really not seeing this toleration of the intolerable.
