@Dutypiper - I want to say it is the genuine article:as it is stamped both the Regiment's initials and bears the Queen's crown. Unlike the photos OCRichard has posted however, it does not bear MOD markings or a NATO stock number (the mysterious numbers of which he speaks). I'm wondering if those are a new addition as the regimental system gave way to the standardization of military efficiency and one supply chain. Therefore, I am want to say that your dirk is from an earlier date, probably 1950s - 60s - but I stand to be corrected. As for valuation, that is beyond my knowledge or expertise.

The Warrant mark has apparently been used from about 1870..

If you google Scottish Sword and Shield, you can find what looks like the same dirk for sale on the Antique Militaria Dirks page. Patrick, the business owner, could likely tell you just what you have. Tried to put up a link, but couldn`t get it to work.

The dirks worn by the Regular battalions of the Argylls AFAIK are silver. I used to own a fabulous old silver one... sorry I ever sold it!

I don't know what to make of a brass/gilt one. Never seen one before!

I could only imagine something like a militia or territorial battalion, but I don't know.
