Yes those Facebook links are blank for me (I'm logged into Facebook).
I suppose anything that gets more men into kilts is a good thing!
It's an amazing thing that there's enough of a latent kiltwearing demand for ordinary shops to sell kilts and sporrans. I can't imagine such a thing happening here (men's kilts and sporrans at WalMart??)
These Lidl kilts can't be worse than the Gold Brothers sh!te I always see, can they?

I guess so, because when you open their site they proudly announce: "GOLD BROTHERS 8 Yard Kilt"
And the site is still here: http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/our-offers-...etail&id=19969
PS. Those Facebook links do not open to me either.

I have never got a poor quality kilt from Lidil over the last few years I have bought several kilts the first time they had them they where heavy wait kilt after that they have been lighter material but still good quality. Good to see them selling kilts again as for a few years they have not had them it was the commonwealth games last year which decided them to start selling them again. I have a Mackenzie, Black-watch , Douglas and most recently granite ? kilt. although I have now got three proper kilts there is nothing wrong with casual kilts ( not every one can afford £300+) I wear my traditional kilts for formal occasions and casual kilts most other times.

Hi Robert_Law thank you for the positive feedback, I'm quite intrigued by Lidl offering kilts, I have every intention of buying one of their kilts tomorrow if they have them in stock locally. £30 for an 8 yard kilt sounds like a bargain and a ghillie shirt for not much more than a tenner.

So popped into Lidl this morning on the way to work and was suitably impressed that I left the store with a black watch kilt, 2 ghillie shirts and a couple of pair of hose. The sporran looked pretty basic so I didn't bother but I bought the bagpipes for a laugh as they were the same colour as the kilt. They appear unplayable or at least I could only get a handful of notes (sounds) from the chanter if that's what it is called.
Kilt, really nice weight looked well stitched for a 8 yard kilt. Leather straps and would be the sort of thing I'd happily wear at a NYE event or a Burns supper event.

I went down to have a look and I did actually put one of the Hamilton Grey kilts in my trolley, but I just couldn't buy it. Perhaps my standards are too high - I have, after all been making garments for a long time - over 50 years, so I went back and returned it to the shelf.
For thirty pounds they are a bargain, and far better made than the one I was sold for 40 pounds some years ago now, they have three wide straps, narrow pleats, and are heavy in the hand.

So here is a photo I took tonight wearing my newly purchased Lidl black watch kilt, black ghillie shirt and matching black hose. The Argyll and sporran I acquired last year via eBay. Quite happy though with the quality.
