Nicknames?
Hi all Laddies and lassies, Have you got a nickname? and why have you got that title, mines Kit, because my real name is Christopher and in my family its always shortened to Kit, having said that, if I'd done something wrong my mother would always call me Christopher!!!! so I knew l was in trouble. Thank you for your kind replies Kit.

Hi, I tend to get called Tezza, or Tel, obviously short for my Christian name. My wife often calls me Maffy, our surname being Matthews.
During basic training at Police college many years ago they called me aqua man as my swimming ability was and is still pretty rubbish

Q... My Initial
for Queren which as far as I know I'm the only one I the world, Not nice as a schoolboy when everyone else was Mathew Mark Luke or John (or there abouts.

Or John, Paul, George, or Ringo.
Mine's long disused - I was a premature baby, so I was "wee" my name is William, so I got "Winky" (you know - Wee Willie Winky from the children's rhyme) I was apparently on the school register as "Winky White" for a number of years, but I don't hear it any more, and that's fine with me!

Early in my career when I hired on to a bank, there were two other Steves already claiming my given name, so I was called "Mackie" by the ladies, which I loved because my dad's nick was "Mac." Years later in the same bank, I was referred to as "McIntyrant", which believe it or not, was an affectionate affectation by those who reported to me.

I predate the arrival as a band of J,P,G,R by six or seven years, Or I might have been named after one of them as they were my parents favourites of the time.

We have had quite a few threads over the years asking about how members have chosen their usernames.
Mine started when I was in the Apache Instructor Pilot course. I seemed to have a way of explaining complex aerodynamic principals in a way that even a child could understand so I was dubbed Mr. Wizard after Don Herbert of the TV show "Mr. Wizard" fame. I carried the Mr. Wizard callsign for the rest of my career.
When I came up to Canada I started using The Wizard of BC. The BC part coming from British Columbia. A play on words. "Pay no attention to that guy behind the curtain."
I figured it sounded better than the name I was given as Head of Research, Design & Tooling at Current Designs Kayaks. I was the oldest guy in the plant so was given Neandertool,

I too recollect a previous thread on this subject. My nickname is purely name related, at least the one I'll admit to: Alastair > Al > Ali > Tin Pan Alley (I shared houses with a bunch of musicians at university)> tpa (my username) > Tp (nickname).
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
