I'd agree with CCK.
A utility kilt is not recognized by many people in the UK as a kilt, whereas a tartan Kilt is recognized and any questions will give you an answer as to why you are wearing it, sadly more of the Neaderthals would see a utility kilt as a skirt with the attendant grief....

Hi guys ,
Well tool my family 8 yard arrives I've ordered a Black Watch which I'll wear out and about.
On a positive note my boss has no problems with me wearing one for work either!.
Pleater - that's exactly where we are getting married and staying in the Smiths Hotel just over the road from the Forge where the ceremony will be.
Cheers , David

Welcome from a Scotsman living in the English Midlands.
I agree with the comments that a tartan kilt is the one to go for. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone wearing a utilikilt(?!), so many people would not recognise them as a form of kilt. (Are they more common in the USA than in Britain?)

Kiltedjohn , yes I've never seen one either .
However I do like the idea of the extra pockets which would be very handy in my job.
Tartan it's do a Blackwatch with extra pockets which maybe an option.
Cheers , David.

Welcome, David, from metro Chicago.
A possible middle ground may be purchasing an inexpensive wool Black Watch tartan from Stillwater Kilts for a "knocking around" and "practice" kilt.

Welcome
Dagnarr,
Welcome to the forum, I am a newbie too! I wore my first kilt on Halloween imitating Axel Rose in Seoul South Korea, now I have always not really cared what people think, and you would be surprised how much people are really not into anything but themselves. All that run-on sentence to say wear it with pride and who cares what people think!
