I did it!
Well, I did it! I first went to the barber and they were cool about it but some guy in the chair next to me looked aghast. I defused that by telling him I play the bagpipes Next, I went to a suit shop to look for a shirt - they didn't have what I was looking for and not a word. I then went to a discount clothing store and again, not a word. Finally, I went to a sandwich shop that I regularly frequent and one of the guys there asked about my "outfit" - he wondered if I was off to play a concert (I'm also a classically trained musician). Other than that, he didn't seem too concerned about my "outfit" (although I think he thought it was weird). Needless to say, I survived.

Crawl before we walk, walk before we strut. Good first step.

If someone asks why you are wearing your kilt, just tell them that you would be arrested if you took it off!

Basically what you do is your own affair, but if you insist in going commando, just bear the obvious in mind, having some experiences in the wild.
It brings a whole DIFFERENT LEVEL of personal hygiene with it especially if you are out in the hills and nature calls..![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Have thick skin and just do it. Don't worry about what anyone thinks.

I go either "Buck Naked" or "Free Range" under my kilts. Both are brands of underware from Duluth Trading Company. I can answer truthfully that I go free range under my kilt or that I am buck naked.
It helps that they are comfortable, too.

Carry yourself as you would any other time, as if there's nothing unusual.
A confident stride and ordinary eye contact will go a long way towards taking the "strangeness" out of it.
Kilts, and any other clothes, look best with good posture and a confident attitude.

Well done, sir. Just remember only to repeat on days that end with a "Y" !

Nice thing about utility kilts is no venues needed. I come home after work and ditch the pants and snap on a kilt. Now I choose the appropriate kilt for what I am doing. One problem I have is kilt addiction. I have 7 now. ☝

I'm a convert
I nearly always put on the kilt when I'm home. I wear it elsewhere but mostly when I go to the park to practice bagpipes. Their amazingly comfortable!
