There was nothing political (at least modern day) in this discussion - just an appreciation of history by some and, possibly, a lack of interest by others. Nothing wrong with that; to each his own.

Well yes they would, except that probably they are busy on a website of their own interests.
I have a wee excuse though, at the age of three score years and ten, plus a tad, so too old to ride to hounds and when there are no fish in the river and nothing to shoot at, what else is there to do? Apart from chatting to very pleasant chaps like you.
Being serious for a moment, we in Highland Scotland even when we are not even thinking about it, are surrounded by our heritage for all our lives 24/7. I am for example, at this moment in time am sat within less than half an hours drive from at least 15 places that are of historical significance to all Scots. The kilt, our National attire, is generally donned without a thought or fuss to do whatever we may in it, however, we know the significance of it should the thought occur and we don't need an excuse to wear it.
It is very apparent on this website that our thought processes are understandably very different from those outwith these shores. The same interest for sure, but inevitably, the perspectives are very different.

Agreed, Jock. I'll add that the perspectives among Americans alone varies quite a bit.

For the first time in many years, I did not wear a kilt for Tartan Day. I'm currently living in Thailand, and nobody would "get" it (not that they necessarily did in the U.S., either-- I always got lots of compliments on my "skirt" though. Or, one guy told me he liked my kilt hose... then was flabbergasted when I pointed out that they matched the kilt three inches above them ). Also, it's a holiday here today, so I didn't go to work (if I had, I might've worn the kilt). But we are also still in a state of mourning here for the late king, who died in October, and I am afraid my kilt might be a bit too boisterous in color/pattern to wear still at this point.
Next year I will probably wear it!

I wore my tartan kilt all day. With the exception of a bike ride, did all my normal activities:
Walked the dogs;
3 mil hike
And I have no idea why I my pics do not orientate correctly.
Late lunch with friend and movie with wife;

It is also Tartan Day in Canada, this is what I wore to celebrate Tartan Day, not that wearing the kilt is that different for me, I've worn one 3 times this week, but I suppose when people ask it's nice to have an excuse sometimes.
