Bear has two "Irish" kilts: Green & Saffron(I know Jimmy!)

Nice sporran to go with it.

I get no comission from Bear and I wait just as long. However, I do support Canadians. Speaking of which, have checked out Robert's Rkilts?

I've seen the Tyrone tartan, and other Irish National tartans, but the problem is finding an inexpensive kiltmaker that utilizes these particular tartans. Can't be done as far as I've seen. When I'm ready to order a more traditional kilt, not casual, I'll certainly try to go with a tartan that represents my heritage a bit more.

In regards to Bears Irish and Saffron kilt....nice but not what I'm looking for. I might get a saffron at a later point in time, but not for my first. The kilt he has listed as an Irish kilt is not a traditional kilt either, from what I gather. It's just a green kilt.

That's something to consider for a future kilt, but they only have it available in their traditional style. I'm looking at getting a casual kilt first.

I really like the Black Watch...so that should give you an idea of the colors I'd prefer. I also like the Stuart Hunting in their Philabeg kilt.

Both great tartans. I have a Black Watch and wear it quite often. I do not have a Stewart Hunting, but love the tartan. My suggestion would be Stewart Hunting, only because sometimes my Black Watch is just too dark, and you want to show off the tartan with a bit more colour. The Stewart Hunting still keeps a dark theme and adds just a bit of colour.

I'm pretty sure that Stewart Hunting is the unofficial tartan of XMarks!

Brian, I'd suggest that you spend the extra bit for the traditional cut from Rocky. The extra yardage gives you the swing that makes kilts so great. That's my two bits worth at least.

I'm with Rufus on this one. My USAkilts traditional stacks up very well in all regards. In fact I just went to a martial arts class with several very active local Highland games participants. They were concerned about my wearing an expensive kilt in class, and every one of them was astounded when I told them I wasn't wearing a $600 kilt. One of the guys is the husband of an employee at the shop where I bought my wool kilt and he thought that was what I was wearing. Rocky and Kelly make first rate stuff!

    Stewart Hunting...

My suggestion would be the Stewart Hunting as well, if you cannot find an inexpensive Irish tartan. It is quite sharp in a kilt!

    Cheers,

    T.

Well...I've made up my mind. I'm going with a USAK Philabeg in the Stewart Hunting Tartan. The order is written up and ready to mail. My wife just needs to decide when she's going to write the check out. Can't wait to get it. Unfortunately, the sporran will have to wait a bit, along with some new shoes and hose.

Rocky has all of that stuff at a good price, well, except shoes. You could tell your wife that it would be easier to just get it all at once than string it out in a couple of orders!
