... and for those who might suggest that the coast is invulnerable to this...

I think that there might be a bit of weather going on over your way - better put your big coat ready.

Yes Anne there is an unusual weather event happening here on the west coast but Vancouver Island, where I live is quite different from the mainland and especially the interior of the province..... I may just have to pull my kilt hose up an inch or so higher. I really don't have a "big Coat".........it's still a bit early but I have to get the lawnmower out, give it a servicing and sharpen the blade in preparation of the first cutting of the new year......likely next week.......It's still the east coast of North America that is having huge weather events.......I don't know if it is really true or not but I read iguana's in Florida are falling out of perches because they "freeze" up if the weather goes below 50ºF......do you know anything about that ......cheers

Terry.
There was a feature on our news(BBC) in the last few days about the iguanas in Florida dropping out of the trees as the cold caused them to fall into some sort a stupor. When picked up and put out in the sun on grass they "woke up" and scuttled off, seemingly none the worse.

Weather here noonish on the West Coast of Canada: 6C, chance of showers. About the same where Terry is on Vancouver Island. Balmy; I'm off for a nice walk along the beach with the dogs.

Hello from sunny coastal North Carolina, in the southeastern USA. Today's high was 27 degrees Fahrenheit with a predicted low of 12 degrees and tomorrow is supposed to be a bit warmer, 30 and 17. Of course Monday is supposed to be much warmer, 51 and 38. Boy, it will be great to get back above freezing. At least for about a week, then it will be back into the refrigerator.
I am so ready for spring.
