Ham, put me in the column in favor of you writing a book. Having read Thompson's book I have to say that I was disappointed, I have found that the advice givin by yourself and Blu and others have been extremely benificial. Plus you have experience wearing the North American versions of the kilt and can provide a knowledgable viewpoint as far as they are concerned.

I have two copies of the book. Why I have two copies is a story for another time, but I'm glad I do as I can only find one when I'm looking for it.

Bring one out to Kilts Night on the 2nd and I'll buy one of yours off you, if you like. I've heard so much about this book but never gone out looking for it.

    Thompson...

...Of course, the book is now rather dated which might have something to do with it, but it is only a rough guide - it is NOT a Bible.

Hamish, you're spot on with this point...Thompson himself states that his work is not to be taken as "gospel", only as a rough guide for beginners. I don't agree with everything he says, but when I first started wearing the kilt (when there was no XMTS or really the Internet!) this book was a godsend.

Now that you're a member of the STA, you should talk to them about some sort of guide to kilt-wearing! 8)

I have my auto sticker and lapel badge as well!

    Cheers,

    T.
