Do you really want to address it to all veterans (in all countries), if it is only for U.S. veterans?
Exactly so! Is there any chance that the OP might consider changing the wording in the title of his first post? Please.

Being a Veteran of the US Coast Guard, the USCG already has a registered tartan, and its modelled after the Hamilton Tartan, but has white added the the CG Tartan. Alexander Hamilton was the "Father of the US Coast Guard" (formally known as the U.S. Revenue Marine). USCG has its own Pipe Band, and the 16 ounce wool material is restricted, and very hard to get. I will post later a photo of the USCG Tartan.

As far as a universal Military Tartan, sorry, but I can not see it, as I believe each branch takes pride with their own tartan and their own Heritage. A universal Military Service Tartan, is more global and really does green, purple, and gold has no meaning to a Coastie. Just like International Orange has no meaning for any of the other services. FYI International Orange is the color on the USCG Stripe, not red. So, to much waters down your own service pride. Like saying why don't we have a universal kilt for all colleges, or all police, or all fireman from all over the world? Sorry does not make sense.

I wear my USCG tartan when I march with SAMS, or on other special Military events, representing my branch. Usually this is twice a year, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day, and that is to do ceremonies in Washington DC. Otherwise I wear my Clan Tartans....

    Cheers..
