My first attempt at putting up a video; this is the wob miss at 11'.

That was clearly a "make" on a fixed bar set-up.
Only advice I can offer is to take a slightly narrower stance which tends to make you "taller" and to keep your throwing arm straight all the way overhead because you released the weight at about chin level. Pull through to the top.

This week I've felt all kinked up, with various aches and pains to boot. I took Monday off; Tuesday, Garrett and I went to Shaffer for a sort session with the cabers and hammers. We did just enough to get somewhat loose because both of us were tired. Yesterday real life interfered with training and today I went to the gym for some light, fast overhead and shoulder work, along with a half dozen sets of pulls; finished with traps, seated bench row, and bike.

Saturday morning I did some light fast lifting, thinking it was a prep session for throwing on Sunday. However, Sunday afternoon turned out to be something entirely different involving extended family bbq. Today, it has been strange weather - warm but a heavy mist, not quite rain but more than fog, that has been going steadily since last night. I had hoped to throw this evening after missing yesterday but, given the wet weather, no go. Thus, I took an extra R&R day; I've been feeling minor aches and pains lately so the second day off should help. Assuming the weather goes back to normal, throwing tomorrow.

The weather is really nuts. Constant heavy mist for the past two days, so the field at Shaffer will be a muddy mess. Looks like a gym night instead of throwing.

Next time I'm down there I want to go up and cut 15 feet off the small end of that eucalyptus tree that we got your new caber out of. I don't have a caber hereabouts that's appropriate for Bethany nor Summer. Gotta do this, gotta do this.

I'm ready to cut a few more sticks to get them drying and to have a better selection of lengths and weights. I'll start scouting out likely targets this weekend.

Finally had the chance to get out to Shaffer last night but I think I'm jinxed. I got out there later than planned due to a doctor's appt for my dad that went longer than anticipated. By the time I got there Garry had already put in a good 45 minutes practicing the pipes - his favorite practice spot given the location and the great natural acoustics. Then, the field was already taken by the high school hammer/discus/javelin contingent so we were relegated to a far corner of the field.
Got in some hammer time and then moved to some wob, but on the first toss I broke the handle. Eff, eff, eff.
Bad juju, called it a night.

Preface: This is my fourth attempt at posting an entry about the Monterey Games; the first three times I apparently hit some mystery button, one I've yet to identify, which transports me back to the Forum homepage. So, heeerre goes...
Montery was good all around, numbers acceptable for the most part. But, main point, is that I finally broke the 35' barrier in lwfd with the double spin I've been working on since November. And, I can feel a lot more in the tank. With more speed and staying lower through the sprint I am looking to break 40 by the end of the season.
In fact, with weights and hammers I sense that I'm in the process of breaking through plateaus that have bedeviled me for some time. I've seen flashes in practice in the past two months and the 3' PR in HH at Watsonville. The PR in lwfd is a further indication that I'm going in the right direction.
Wob is also a whole new game. Whereas last year making 10' was iffy, it is now a given. I'm hitting 11' in practice and just missed it in Monterey and Watsonville. The improvement is due to better technique and significantly increasing my max weight in rack pulls. By the end of the season I want 11' to be automatic and to be aiming at 12'.
The game is afoot...
