Kilted air travel Friday. New York, then train to Newark airport, then flight to San Francisco. Positive comments all around on the kilt and very comfortable travel. One of the security guys at Newark asked if I had my knife in my luggage because it wouldn't make it through and didn't want me to have to lose it. He made sure to do that before I got too far along so I'd have a chance to take care of it.
Both directions security did a mini-pat down because of the buckles and straps. Basically just patted the straps on both sides. No big deal.

So, I didn't have a complete day of kilted Friday, but I went grocery shopping in the Utilikilt. The women at the store acted like nothing unusul was going on, over all. A few stared. As for the guys, they pretended I didn't exist. Both of my daughters (14 and 16) got a good laugh out of it.

Wore my Newsome single box pleat in XMarkstheScot.com tartan kilt, today.
Did a survey with tree contractor through the community I manage noting the trees that I needed taken out. Caused quite a stir with some folks visiting when I went by. All positive. Told them no, I don't play the pipes. One of residents yelled out to me, 'I still have to find a Bonnie Lassie!" My response to her eariler when asked what I wore beneath the kilt - Ask a bonnie lassie!
The copier went on the blink and headed out to FedEx Office to get copies of the Board Meeting packet done for Monday's meeting. Received admiring smiles from the lasses there.
When it was all said done, went to Park Lane for a pint and lunch/dinner.
A good Kilted Friday!

Wife and I went out to local restaurant with friends of ours. USMC kilt with polo shirt and royal blue hose. Sorry no pics because I left the camera at home. Yes I know, no photos no proof. Had several positive comments and one said he wished he had the guts to wear a kilt. Told him about xmarksthescot. Maybe a convert from pants to kilt. Love the weekends because I can wear my kilts. Job does not allow me to wear a kilt.

Wow, I'm actually in my home town on a Friday. Anyway here I am before leaving for my Scottish Country dance class then off to our favorite Irish Pub for refreshments.
Unfortunately my lovely wife is out of town. So I'll be going to class and the pub with my second son and a couple of his friends.

I wore my Burnett’s & Struth kilt in Ancient MacCallum tartan, today. The Social Committee was getting the meeting room prepared for tomorrow’s Veterans Day Breakfast and program and one of the ladies commented what nice legs I have. That comment got a lot of hoots from the rest of them.
After work went to Park Lane for a pint and dinner. Felt I was in a Cheers episode with the welcome I got from many at the bar I knew. Chuck & Sarah fellow members of the Scottish Society asked what the occasion was and I replied “It’s Friday!” Chuck said he wished he knew I was going be there kilted as he would have worn his USA Kilt that arrived, today. No excuses, Chuck!

Ok, I hope that I don't get kicked off the thread "Kilted Friday Adventures" but this was a special personal event that happened actually on a Thursday, Oct 31st to be exact. I took the opportunity for my maden voyage in an actual Kilt ( yes I know, it's a utilikilt but 1st steps are important ) to take place, not in the privacy of my own home, yard etc., but at My Workplace! I figured, I'd give my local and fellow associates a glimpse and see what happens. This photo ( as you all have said time and time again, if there's no photo, it didn't happen...) was taken by a friend from work, after being literally on my feet, moving and working for over eight hours, after removing a protective apron, so excuse any wrinkles and taxed look upon me. So, here I am, the FIRST photo in a Kilt.......

Well, at the time you were wearing it, it was Friday in Japan, so what the heck. Besides, you look great in it!

Thank you Dale and Mael......first steps you know....
The overall reaction at work was positive. Actually the third male customer I helped, at 7:30 am, said to me " Nice Kilt....UtiliKilt right?". Turns out he was a Piper for an honor detail for the Fire Dept's in the area. He had rarely wore a kilt outside of that venue/detail, but found running across someone inspiring saying he might venture forth himself. He had not heard of this site, so naturally I suggested he visit us here at XMTS.
The compliments continued throughout the day from both male and female alike. Only one comment made by a fellow worker, I believe to get a rise out of me, along the line of questioning why I was wearing a skirt. My response, " it's a Kilt, and thank you for noticing".
There was one particular incident that brought a smile and chuckle to me and a few others present during a break. As I was standing at the timeclock, the only Aussie in our workplace stepped into the room. As he approached me he stopped, took a step back, glanced approvingly at me, and said " your not a Sheila are you...", of which I replied, "... No sir, I'm not.." and as I started to reach down toward the front of the kilt I said, "would you like me to prove it..." and he responded while chuckling " ...no, that's all right Mate !"...We had a good chuckle! He said of all the people there I was one that could definitely "Sport It" well......I took that as a compliment.
Overall, it was a very good day for the first time in general public wearing a kilt. Actually, as many of you XMTS'ers have said, it gave opportunity for many positive conversations. It was the first time many at my work had ever seen a long-haired native man wear anything but jeans.....
