This all sounds good. I can't imagine that Jay is going to show up, so come to Pleasanton ready to change shirts!
Hey, note that we throw on SATURDAY at Ventura this time!~

I think we've always thrown on Saturdays. We drove down Friday afternoon, threw Saturday, drove back up on Sunday, except last year you came back up late with Robert after coaching the CHAC women. This year Garrett is going down and he throws on Sunday with the lightweights, thus we'll probably be making the Sunday night return.

This sounds good. I looked at last Octobers calendar and discovered that you're right, we DO throw on Saturday!

Throwing at Shaffer Park this evening; had the place to myself. I worked on winds with the light hammer, bending my knees and reaching back, catching over the right shoulder and accelerating. Then I switched to wob. After three years of utter frustration with this event I am ecstatic to be making good progress at long last. I went over 10 on the first throw easily and raised the bar to 10'6"; I got the height in the first 3 or 4 throws but went in front of the bar and on top of the bar. However, on the final toss I hit it - little doubt that it was my best wob throw ever, practice or game. It would have cleared 11' by a good measure. Finished off with about six hwfd and six lwfd all of which felt good.
Now all I need is a little luck for a spot on the field this weekend.

A week in review: At Pleasanton I didn't get a last minute spot, but I did have the opportunity to mark every event for the Pro Class on both days. It was impressive and instructive, and a great time.
On Monday I hit the gym to do a loosening up session with light weights, many movements; Tuesday was an off day. Wednesday I hit rack pulls up to 285; I am very pleased that this is now almost a routine level because it bodes well for the off-season program.
Thursday I resumed throwing at Shaffer Park focusing on hammer and wob. The past two hammer sessions I've come close to
PR distances with several throws, an indication that the changes I've been trying to implement are working. I would really love to see a comp PR in this event before the season ends. Wob continues to come together after years of frustration; I'm getting 11 on an increasingly regular basis in practice - now I need to do it in a game.
Friday was overhead press day at the gym. I didn't go too hard - sets at 95 and 115 - these are levels I know I can handle but, on a psych level, I'm getting used to the idea of starting with the 25 plates and jumping directly to the 35 plates because the immediate goal after Ventura is to handle the 45 plates with a strict press.
Today I plan on some light work and tomorrow at Shaffer Park I want to spend a lot of time on wfd, both heavy and light.

Garrett and I went to Shaffer Park this afternoon but neither of us had any pop. We did wfd and hammer trying to kickstart some energy, but it just didn't happen. I suppose I've had worse practices but it's been quite some time.
Day off tomorrow and I'll throw again on Tuesday evening.

I think that having the weight and the WOB apparatus is making a difference, eh? NICE.

Craziness over the past week or so but I've had several good workouts. Garrett and I had a good throwing session last Friday focused on hammer, wob, and caber. Real life interference over the weekend - on Sunday I was returning the daughter to Sonoma State after a weekend home.
Monday light overhead press to get out some kinks, a shorter session than usual due to a late start. Then yesterday throwing by myself at Shaffer. My wfd, both heavy and light, were atrocious. Feet all over the place and that was just the beginning. Ended up just drilling footwork. Moved over to wob and tossed a good half dozen, closing in on eleven.
Today I'm headed out to do moderate weight, fast squats and that will be it going into Fresno.
In the last three games - Fresno, Dixon, and Ventura - I'm on a PR hunt. I want to hit big in light hammer, hwfd, lwfd, wob, and Braemar before the end of the season.

I'm crossing my fingers for some big throws for you this weekend. Then again, you could save 'em up for Dixon, so I can be there and see them in person!

As I think about it, I wouldn't mind not hitting big at Fresno - it will be my last game in the 50 class. Starting with Dixon next weekend I'm in the 60 class and it would be too cool to start out with several PR's to announce my arrival in that class. (Not that anyone will be worried...)
