Both. Why not?
To my way of thinking, there is going to be some expense in getting this thing started. That's why I suggested seeing how the first one does. If it really takes off, then Hank might consider adding the other one at a later date.

A few comments to consider when you are voting:
1. Remember that the colors you see here are computer graphic images being viewed on a monitor. What I'm looking at may be slightly different than what you are looking at, simply because of different settings on our particular screens.
Regardless, when the actual cloth is woven, the woolen mill who does the work is going to have their own particular dye lots. Their shade of dark blue, their shade of azure, their shade of grey, etc., will not necessarily look exactly like this computer generated image. And then, if someone later on decides to get the tartan woven in a poly-viscose, or a cotton, or a silk, etc., those mills will also have their own particular dye lots.
This is all just to say that the colors you are looking at here are to give you a general idea, and you may see some slight variation in hue in the woven cloth.
2. People are commenting on Number 2 being a "dress" tartan. Dress tartans, by definition, have a great amount of white (yes, there are some exceptions to this rule). The light color you see in this tartan is actually grey. Notice there is a white line on the grey. In any case, when it is woven up, it is very likely that the grey will appear somewhat darker than it does in this image, and so the tartan will look less like a "dress" tartan. If I really wanted to make that one a dress tartan, I would probably reverse the white and grey elements in that section -- then it really would look like a dancer's sett.
Aye,
Matt

Monitor sense
I have to agree with Matt's cautions. But I would choose the first one, because I like color.

My problem is that I like them both, so I have yet to decide. I guess what I am saying is that I could live very comfortable with either one.

Heck why not just make that the case and Have #2 be the dress Xmarks Tartan. and #1 be the regular, Now there just needs to be a "Hunting" tartan
In my opinion, this is the best comment yet on the xmarks tartan. I love the idea of having both options, one being a dress tartan.

That is a good idea. But I think we need to pick one to start with. I personally like #1 because of the blue, I like #2 but for the yellow is almost too much. THAT'S JUST ME! DON'T POUNCE! :x

Um, if we choose two/both tartans, and we wish to have both wool and "casual" tartan material available, then that means making arrangements for four different sets of material. That's a lot more work, and also it "dilutes" the kilt orders into more choices, which means that the kiltmakers have to decide whether or not to stock more styles of material.
I strongly suggest that we stick with one tartan for now. If it's really popular, then we can include the "dress" tartan, later.
Of course, for those who wish to get a custom kilt made, they can get a few yards woven and get the kilt of their dreams made for them.
