"Joining Clan Mackay is easy. Simply choose if you would like an individual membership or a family membership" Membership dues are payable each year and are $20.00 (USD).

That is it ... no offically researched Mackay Clan connection necessary.

Our clann states the following regarding membership:

Membership is open to all persons of Irish birth or descent, being eighteen years of age or older, who possess or bear lineage to one of the following five patronyms (or variants):

MacSimoin (et al)
Fitzsimons (et al)
Fitzsimmons (et al)
Simons (et al)
Simmons (et al)

However, Clann MacSimoin welcomes all those who possess a 'separate Irishness' (ie, unrelated surname or ethnicity) and wish to join as Clann Member. In other words, if you possess a keen love of all things Irish, you're welcome to join.

We originally required a POL (Proof of Lineage) record but dropped this due to its restrictive nature (some people simply do not possess genealogical records of any kind) and out of respect for member privacy.

Our Bylaws state the following concerning eligibility:

ARTICLE VI: MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. Eligibility.

a. Familial members:

Membership is open to all persons of Irish birth or descent, being eighteen years of age or older, who possess or bear lineage to one of the following five patronyms (or variants):

a. MacSimoin (et al)
b. Fitzsimons (et al)
c. Fitzsimmons (et al)
d. Simons (et al)
e. Simmons (et al)

b. Non-familial members:

All other persons being eighteen years of age or older who possess a genuine and active interest in Irish history and culture may attain Individual membership in Clann MacSimoin. Non-familial members are ineligible for Family, Lifetime or Seniors memberships and are not permitted to hold Council positions.

I just thought I'd share our view on the subject.
