Thanks.
I bought both size 36 and 34. I am a 34 in trousers, and the 36 in this kilt will work so long as I don't gain another ounce. I would actually have been better to have gotten a 38, so the aprons on these provided a bit more coverage ( they are a bit shorter than most).
I'll be giving the 34's to friends back home.

The seller isn't very quick with answers, so maybe you can help me. Are the sizes quoted with the straps fully extended or fully tightened? Looks like there is more than an inch worth of adjustment. Also, I noticed he has a Cameron one that isn't hemmed. Where would I be able to get that done?

the size is at the middle of the strap, although I very highly recommend swapping all leathers out for new ones.
I think I mentioned earlier in this post that if you wear these on or close to your hips ( more like a UK than a trad.) you will want to get one that is about 4 inches larger in size than your pants waist. I wear 34" jeans, and the 36 fits snug. A 38 would have been preferred, as the aprons are a little on the short side. The apron issue can also be fixed with a kilt pin.
as for the hem, are you talking about the top or bottom? the bottom is not hemmed on the Black Watch either, and the cloth isn't long enough for a hem. I think it looks fine as without the hem.

Answers and relpacement leather straps
From some of the recent posts it seems that some of you haven't seen my original review of these kilts. My review is nicely complimented by this present thread, thanks to Kilted KT for his photographic talents and wicked sense of humor.
Many of the questions being currently asked are answered in the previous thread, linked below.

Addditionally, I have laid in a supply of black leather strap material and will make a set of replacement straps (my new and improved design ) for $7 USD, postage included. Note that this is for three apron straps only, not new buckles or buckle-attachment material. The leather is high quality and soft enough to be sewn with an average sewing machine (or by hand with a leather palm or very small awl). PM me if you're interested.

Since my original review I've worn the Black Watch quite a bit. Just last night when I delivered a guest lecture at the local university in fact. It still wears very well and has become my favorite kilt. As soon as they have more sizes in the MacDonald I'm ordering three (I have two sons), so I can shift my PV MacDonald to hiking duty. Don't hesitate to PM me for questions.
By the way, I am not on retainer from the sellers!

Sunday night I'll be posting a full field test review of these kilts. I'll be going camping for the weekend, and teaching cub scouts about wilderness survival.
I'll get some pics. Should be good stuff.

The Cameron is 27" long. That goes below my knees even when it's around my waist. The ad says the bottom is ready for hemming. I'm still kinda confused on the sizing - if I measure the place where I want to wear it, will that be an accurate size? How long did it take for them to send it to you? I'm moving in a week, but I don't know the address for the place I'm going. Bloody dilemas!
