To me, this design doesn't look male at all, but could rather be posted

I agree with you Sylvain (similar design)
That is almost a miniskirt in that image. It does not give a mental image of a kilted man at all...

The originalfrom smaughazard - gives the whole picture but the its more like a bathroom door sign than kilt symbol.

    my 2 cents....

I think Iolaus' design would look great on a bumper sticker style item while smaughazard's design would look great on a t-shirt.

    Cheers

The red lion rampant on yellow/gold does it all for me, I suppose the official flag of Tenerife, wot they stole from us, should too but it doesn't quite.

Well, the cowboy hat was worn by cowboys and the skull 'n' crossbones was flown by pirates.... aside from kilts, kilties are most associated with the pipes, so unless you want our emblem to be the bare-butted kiltie (blind, I'm blind!) to be our logo, I'd say the choice having the best shot at success would be the pipes, player or no.

But pipes in silhouette isn't all that easy to distinguish, and something that detailed/narrow in profile (the drones) would be very hard to cut in a small window sticker on a vinyl plotter.

I'm not convinced this makes the same statement/inference as the previous image from smaughazard.

Where public washrooms are concerned, this discussion may lack practical significance. The local building official may be required to enforce the posting of standard symbols as specified by the building code having jurisdiction. That doesn't normally include kilts.
