Thanks for the warm welcome, all of you! I'll definitely post pictures of the kilt hose when I'm done with them; I'm making a simple cable down either side of the calf and adding moss stitch to the rest because all the kilt hose patterns I found were too plain! I can't do anything simple, obviously.
A lady who comes to our monthly Kilt Night here has a MacBeth kilt-skirt. It is a gorgeous tartan, especially in the "muted" or "ancient" colors I believe she's wearing. You won't be displeased if that's the tartan you choose!
I'm probably going to go with the modern colors of the MacBeth. Once you get over the initial shock, it grows on you.

A modern Macbeth kilted skirt or minikilt will look awesome...nothing wrong with some bold colours

I have a modern MacBeth tie, and a MacDuff as well, which Mom and Dad got me , lo these many years ago, after I studied MacBeth in high school Shakespeare class. It's a GREAT tartan!
