4 years ago, in August.
So, I was about 26.5 years old or so. Been wearing them pretty much exclusively, except for when I do grungy stuff. Then the jeans and shorts come out, or the Utilikilt, if I'm not going to be crawling underneath something. Otherwise, it's traditional tank time all the way.

Took me long enough eh? 59 or 60....
Had been around plenty of kilts. Never thought of wearing one until I saw a Utilikilt. That sold me. Worked from there back up to hand sewn traditional tartan kilts and casual tartan kilts....go figure.
Still do solid and camo contemporary kilts too.
But, no clue why seeing a UK made it an option for me.

"I'll have a kilt please, a nice hand sewn tartan, 16 ounce Strome. Oh, and a sporran on the side, with a strap please."

I checked 31-35 because that was when I really started wearing kilts. I have had a great kilt since I was I was 28, but wore it once a year to the ren fest, so I don't really count that.

Same for me, Ron. Kilts were always appealing to me and I always wanted to wear the kilt. But, even with having tried one on for a while so many years earlier, I didn't seem to have the impetus to forge into kilted freedom until I stumbled across the Utilikilt.
It was made locally, in America that is. It looked masculine. It had a specific attractiveness for me to want to see one on myself. That was before I saw a rather stout looking fellow stroll across the street in front of me one afternoon. I saw him emerge from a tavern waving a hand to a friend inside. It was a tan kilt. I don't know which pattern though. But, I'm sure it was a UK because I remember the "V" design of the snaps on the apron. I knew then exactly what it would look like on me. I also knew that a man could wear a kilt and be all man. Not a person whom had any doubts about his image or masculinity or sensuality. I bought a blue Mocker and I aint looked back!

Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

I wore a friends kilt once when I was in Germany in the US Army long ago in 1974. I wore it for nearly an hour in his house in the living room and changing room only. By the time I removed it I had found a new comfort level for myself. I was also slightly tipsy but not yet blotto! However, I was impressed and remembered my word to myself that, "One day, I'll wear a kilt of my own." I was 22 years of age then. I put my new kilt on in earnest a little over three years ago. Today I'm 54 1/2 years new! I own a dozen kilts and am endeared to all whom throw off the olden stodginess of ancient boxed in thinking and take to themselves the new, free man thinking and actions.

A couple of summers ago my DW sent to Scotland for a college course. She invited me to spend 10 days with her after the class. After pondering (about 4 seconds) away I went. Becoming obsessed with all things Scottish, I went out on the net and found this place.
My wife just ordered me my third kilt for my birthday and "IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!"
Thanks guys,
macG
