What a lousy time for my printer to run out of colored ink! I only printed the first few pages to check the quality. The text is OK, but will have to hold off printing out the entire booklet until I get the printer reloaded.

Thanks for an excellent publcation. Do you think it should be copyrighted in the USA as well? The process is not too difficult and is rather inexpensive.

It is true that most kiltmakers will add 2 inches, but some kilt retailers don't do so.

Just a quick heads-up to say that I've just released Version 2.0 of my wee free Kilts & Tartan book. I've given it a full point upgrade (in computer jargon) as it has a new title and a new address, as well as lots of smaller additions and revisions, more pics, etc. These are almost all based on ideas and feedback from here and elsewhere, so many thanks again to all concerned. If I've forgotten anything in the welter of communications, please remind me! And further comments still welcome of course.

You'll now find it at http://clan.com/kiltsandtartan

If anyone has linked to the old address, it will still work. But I'd be grateful if you could update any links on web pages or blogs. There's some code on that page to help if wanted.

A lot of people told me the word Buying in the old title made it look more commercial than merited, and the thing's certainly developed from my first idea! So it's now more neutral.

If anyone has any problems with reading any part of the PDF I'd be grateful if they could let me know. With expert help I think I tracked down the bug that affected a few people last time. But

    Hello Nick-

Great E-Book! One problem, though. Page 13 (so far) seems to have a problem. I get a pop-up box saying "token not recognized", then the page is partially there. If I go to page 14 then back to 13, page 13 is a blank page.

Just thought I would let you know.

    EDIT:

My version of Adobe Reader is 7.0.0 and says there are no updates available. I am downloading the document and viewing it directly in Acrobat Reader so browser choice here isn't critical.

    Other notes:

    1) Page 20 is blank

    2) Page 23 had a black box that maybe was supposed to have an image over it (shadow?)

    3) Page 35 is blank

    4) Page 57 has another of those black boxes.

Nick: When I do websites, I take the site and put it on a CD-R and look at it on another machine to verify look/functionality. This process may help you track down the culprit, if you are not already doing this. If you are, please disregard.

Just trying to help out a fellow kiltie.

Rats. That's the same error as last time, but in a different place. I'll see if I can track down another PDF guru to help me identify its exact location, and will replace asap. If it's the same as last time, most people will have no problem, so thanks for letting me know.

I also get this "token not recognized" on page 13 when first browsing forward through the book. However, I can see the entire page. (Using Firefox 1.5.0.7)

Same thing here with Adobe Professional 7.0.8.

There are some Adobe patches available (about 78 megs worth!) I'll try installing these and report back if this resolves the issue.

    (later...)

No - still the same problem with all of Adobe's patches downloaded and installed.

I'd echo previous comments about the great content, though!

Yeah, I'm also getting the "token not recognized" deal, but I'm sure you'll figure that one out. You've already done the hard bits! This is really interesting reading and I look forward to delving into it a bit more after work.

Nick, would it be acceptable if I had this link included in the next newsletter our local Celtic society puts out?
