That is one very nice kilt. But (you had to know that was coming ) as far as I'm concerned it will have to wait. For me, the first US military tartan for me will be the Army (6 years in and to remember my cousin). Next would be the Navy (Father, Grandfather and Uncle all served in the Navy during WWII). Don't know of any direct connections to the USMC, other than friends that served, but still have it on the list.

I'll add my name to the list of those who would buy an Army tartan. My school has a Marine JROTC unit and I've been trying to get the Sargent to get a kilt for some time...the Leatherneck might be just the hook I've been needing...so there's two sales.

    Thumbs up New Tartan

Thanks for offering another great tartan, Jerry!

As for who can or cannot wear a particular tartan, it's quickly becoming the 2nd oldest question regarding kilts.

We're wearing kilts because we want to... the same thing goes for any tartan or color or material. Just do it with respect, and the rest will work itself out.

(and from an Army guy, hoo-ahh)

Does anyone else have any concerns over the fact that Stillwater is selling kilts designed to honor the USMC that are made in Pakistan?

Its a small world....wasn't there something in the news about the new Army berets being made in China...?

Don't think the Marines ever had to go to Pakistan...?

Its a global economy these days...

But I get your point Matt, the more I think about maybe someday getting a Leatherneck tartan, the more I think Kathy Lare should be the one to sew it up in a nice 16oz strome....and, it doesn't hurt that her family is a Marine family.
