I don't think those chairs were designed as "kilt chairs"...they're corner chairs.
But...they're handy when you wear a kilt...I personally dislike chairs with arm rests. It's much easier to get seated on a chair without....no pleat battle problems and the pleats on the side can hang like a japanese fan.
When I visit my favorite restaurant (five star kilt friendly) they make sure I get a chair without arm rests.
I mostly sit like the military....knees apart and feet "crossed"

Seems to me, the front corner would just make sitting more difficult. Yes, they're nicely done, and are very functional for a corner, but... ?

aye...
he also lived ainly 30 years arr sae after the wearin o' kilts wuz made legal again....
kilts were still seen as "rebel Hie'lan" wear....

Of course, since he was in the Lowlands, the Proscription did not apply. And you are quite right, the kilt was for "redshanked Hie'lan rebels". :mrgreen:

My grandmother had a chair buit like those. It's gone wish I had it now.
