I can't believe it! I saw someone else in the California tartan! Consider yourself lucky that your photos showed the true beauty of the colors. All my photos are turning out lighter than it actually is.
Seeing such a great kilt night made me wish I drove the 6 hours to join you. Thanks for the pictures.

What tartan is W2f wearing, the weathered one? It's a beaut! (I confess a certain love of those brownish tartans.)

I'm sorry I missed that detail earlier.
The tartan is MacLaren Weathered 16 oz from Lochcarron Mills. It is, indeed, extremely beautiful fabric. It proves the idea that the best materials can overcome (or, at least overshadow) the deficiencies of the tailor.
