Jamie (Panache): You mentioned in another post about having your tailor alter jackets. Could he make an Argyle or other type of kilt jacket from scratch/pattern? I've bought two jackets and both are too short for my long torso. Rather than pay duty to have some custom made, I'd rather have them made here.

AtagahiKC, I don't think that she could do a perfect Argyle Jacket out of a Sportcoat. But she, and very likely many tailors closer to you could convert a sportcoat into a very nice kilt jacket. What you need to do is look at a bunch of kilt jacket pictures, print them out, and then go to your tailor in your kilt and see what they can do. I can not understate the importance of bringing a picture of what you are looking for! I decided that instead of trying to make a perfect copy of an established style of jacket I was far better off coming up with something inspired by a type of jacket. Instead of trying to radically alter something into something it is not, look at the jacket and see what it could be. Here are some threads of mine for you to look at that may be of help: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=21217 http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=21217 http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=17818 Here’s one by David Dalglish, that is a step by step on how to do it ( very helpful for a tailor) http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=22180 Here is one by Alan H. He has a website set up detailing jacket conversions but I don't have the current address for it. http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=21573 Hope this was of help. Cheers Jamie/Panache
