Sorry everyone I didn't get a chance to post yesterday.
Here's how Halloween went for me...
I arrived at work around 8:00 am in my dress kilt attire. (I apologize I don't have any pics yet, but I'll post some later) 3 other people at work ended up wearing either the kilts they own or ones they borrowed from me to wear. A few of the others that I given kilts to wear yesterday decided to chicken out.
I first walked into my manager's office to say hi, and she said that she loved it. I asked "So, what do you think? Do you think this looks professional looking at all?" To which she replied "Actually I do think it looks nice. It would take some time to get used to but you do look sharp." Which brought a sigh of relief and a nice big smile to my face. She continued "Unfortunately, I'm not the one that you're going to have to convince." which I already knew. It was the VP of the company's vote that I had to sway.
I didn't have time to immediately head off to his office, since I was at work, and I had to well... work. About 11:00 am me and one of my co-workers who was kilted walked into the VP's office.
He smiled as he turned around saying "Ah yes, I figured you'd be wearing that today... But why are you wearing a tie?"
"I'm wearing a tie to help emphasize my point that someone can look business appropriate while wearing a kilt. It's just like a nice pair of slacks. So what do you think?"
"Uh.. No.. not at all." He shook his head as he replied
At this point I started to fear what I knew was probably coming... "So you don't think I look business appropriate at all?" I asked.
"well if you were a news anchor and could sit behind a desk all day long and nobody would ever have the see the bottom half of you, i think you'd look great. But no, You may not wear that any other day of the other than Halloween." I thanked him for his time and excused myself. I know better than to push the issue beyond that point.
So it looks like i'll still be wearing P@nts to work from now on. I do know that I could make a big stink and push the issue, but it's not worth it. I don't want to lose my job.
thank you everyone for the wishes of good luck. They helped keep me in a very positive mood as I went to work yesterday. But alas, we don't always get what we want.

I don't expect anything will be accomplished here (although I hope I'm wrong). By wearing it as a costume on Halloween (in your VP's eyes) my guess is it will only further convince him he is right that the kilt is a costume, and not appropriate for the office on a daily basis.
Again, I hope I'm wrong, but I think you may set your cause back.

I hope it went well and your boss and office-mates got the point.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained I say. At least you know that you have done what can be done and you know you have plenty of other opportunities to kilt up. Well done!

That's a pain in the face. I guess your only option is to go into TV...
