Is a -10- Speyburn any good? Spotted one at a local party store and was thinking of picking one up.

Being from Atlanta I would humbly submit that you NEVER mix Coca Cola with Sipping Whisky of any kind...an abysmal abomination for both. Whether the finest Whiskey for sipping...Jack Daniels 80 or Scoth Whisky...LAPHROAIG. NEVER EVER add Coca Cola .........PLEASE!!!!!!
Just the simplest, tiniest spot of spring water will do well for both

I have to admit that I am not a big fan of Single Malts. Then again I don't drink much any way. Bobbie is the one in the family that has the palette for them.

However, she brought home a Welsh Single Malt called Penderyn last month and I found it great.

My second vote goes for Glenfarclas hands down. The 20 year is superb and the 40 year can make you believe in angels.

ps There is a Single Malt distillery starting up here on Vancouver Island. All the distillers are Scottish trained and the stills are from Scotland. They are not ready to start selling till this spring so I can't give a review but believe me as soon as they tap the first cask Bobbie and I will get an e-mail and make a weekend trip to taste it.

Taste for the single malts must be trained. Just like you learned to drink beer.

    Try this.

Get a reputable single malt. Not a great one, but servicable and available almost everywhere is Glenfidich.

Pour three glasses with one shot each. Label #1, #2, #3. Also get a glass of water or two handy.

Let the booze reach room temperature.

In #1 put another shot of water.
In #2 put in an ice cube.
In #3 put in two ice cubes and another shot of water. Wait 37 seconds, Now sip at each. Cleaning your mouth out between each.

I think you will find a definite difference between each.

Now pour #1 and #2 in another glass and add two shots of soda. Try that.

    What do you think now?

    Oh, after you finish, repeat!
