I'm trying to figure out the $30 price difference between the Edinburgh and Glasgow models. Is it just knife pleats vs. box pleats? I don't see any other difference.

Yes you are correct, our pleats are sewin inside and out so for a knife pleat there is two seams per pleat and for each box pleat there is four seams for every per pleat. It takes longer to make a box pleated kilt and we do adjust the price for the extra work.

Just got around to checking out the Alphakilts website and I'm definately impressed! I've been wondering about the possibility of buying a casual non-tartan for the first time after my next kilt, and this looks like a much less costly alternative to a Utilikilt that I won't have to worry about hanging past my knees. *laugh*

I see you're located in Indianapolis- I'm from Carmel. Do you have a store, or is all online? I'd love to drop by if you have a physical shop.

I have two UK's (woodland camo and olive) and one Alphakilt, and I'm just about to order another AaK.

The material is heavy duty 12.5 oz, stiffer than UK originals, but not as stiff as a workman. Strangely the AaK weighs a pound less--it seems to have less material in the waist and fell areas. I thought there would be less yardage in the AaK, but on measuring both it turned out to be very close--about 4 1/2 yards. In the UK there seems to be more material in the pleats, and less in the narrow apron, where the AaK has more material sewn up in the apron to weight it down.

The AaK doesn't come in as many color or material options as the UK, but they do offer knife or box pleats, and optional outside pockets (detachable another option).

That's all I can think of for now.
