Yeah, apparently being Phi Beta Kappa isn't as big of a deal either (to those in my generation, at least), but I still proclaim with pride that I am a member. S'all in what you make of it.

The Colonel thing is kind of a mixed bag. If it is given to someone who lives out of state, it is usually for doing something worthwhile. If given instate it almost always means nothing (a friend's wife got him declared a Col for his birthday a couple of years ago, and all it took was finding an existing Col to sponsor him).

Phi Beta Kappa is very cool, Dana! My grandfather was active in the Phi Beta Kappa all his life, in part because the headquarters are just down the street from his lifetime workplace, The College of William & Mary.

Awww man...sorry I missed that, would have been fun! Well as I continue my "quest" for the KY kilt, I am working on some others to at least tide me over, so hopefully can be in the next photo !
