<< One set of pipes are obviously Dunbar P1's, what is the other set? >>
The other pipes are MacLellan's I've had for some years. They have done me well - definitely my favorite.
The Dunbar's are my travel set. I've flown with them several times within my checked baggage without incident or damage. They seem to be almost indestructible.

<< ...so where and how did you get to that particular spot at Glencoe? >>
That particular spot is an observation point on the south side of the A82. Tour buses use it for quick stops and photo opportunities. There are several along the route, this one I believe is the largest.
The monument, etc can be somewhat tricky to locate. They're not as prominent as one would expect for such an historic site.
The Highlander with me often freelances for the National Trust, including at the Glencoe Visitor Centre. He also has a regular gig at Loch Katrine (www.lochkatrine.com) during tourist season. He's a gifted historian/presenter. Highly recommended and he's a very dear friend as well.
I considered it a real treat to do a few 'shows' with him last season. He lives in the village of Killin, known for its beautiful Dochart Falls. Also does presentations there at the Breadalbane Visitor Centre.

Slainte yall,

Thanks, Steve. I'm bookmarking for future reference. I'm going back to the Auld Countrie this very July, but it is a pre-arranged private tour that will not include Glencoe this time. Yes, when I was there in May of 2003 the Glencoe Village Museum was not yet open for the tourist season.

There's a new Glencoe Visitor Centre constructed since '03. That may be why is wasn't open, though can't imagine it being locked up in May, as the tourist season was getting started.
Wee wifie & I'll be over there in September - looking forward to the cooler weather already.

That's one of those fortuitous moments that gets captured on 'film'. I've gotten lotsa mileage from that single photograph. The ladies find it adorable and must admit he was a cute kid.
According to hid father, he's been enchanted by the pipes since day one, then again, who isn't?
