Welcome to the rabble. Ditto to all of the above, but let me add, above all...make the kilt yours! Be comfortable in it, the girls will love it.

CelticSire: I was just wondering how your outing went? Which day did you go and how did you like the event and wearing your kilt?

I was out there Sunday with my husband. It was his first kilted outing as well. He had a blast.

    Best wishes!

I know your first outing is done, but I will add my 2 cents for future reference. You have long legs, so I also think you should wear the kilt just a little bit lower to take the hem no farther south than mid-knee. All the others had the right idea about scrunching the hose and wearing the belt closer to the top of the kilt.

I started with a strap and switched to hanging from the belt (with a leather hanger). For those of us who are larger (particularly if we have little or no waist), the sporran on a strap tends to sink lower down than it should. So, the sporran hanger is fine.

I took the advice from the fine members of this forum, and my first kilted outing went smashingly well. I received several compliments on my kilt, including one from a Scottish gentleman who loved the Lamont weathered. I even posed for two pictures. I went both days, Friday and Saturday, and even got to make an official appearance at my Clan's tent. On to San Antonio for the Highland games in April!

When they fight for freedom I will lead them. When they are unsteady on the battlefield I will motivate them. If they die on the battlefield I will bury them. So help me God."
