HI! There's a fair number of us in and around eastern KS, western MO. Five at the KC Tartan Days earlier this month. Wallace and Bishop will hopefully chime in on what it's like to wear a tank in this climate.
MacKenzie? Family tartan, or just like the look of it? If family, hello, cousin!
Family. Mothers side second generation..and oddly through my fathers side. He is of Danish decent (Nielsen) but around 1946 a recorded ancestor married..wait for it...a McKenzie..lol. So i got it coming both ways. Lucked out too as the McKenzie tartan is one of most striking tartans i have seen, so i love wearing it.(So do alot of other people it seems. Very popular tartan) So well met cousin! Gotta be alot of us around seeing as how our clan claimed a HUGE swath of land in the highlands. Hehe. I've been told the surname McKenzie is like Nielsen is in Denmark, very common.
Any of you local (to KC) or for that matter non local, kilted cousins planning on attending Heartland Fest this year? I wont have my 8 yard tank yet (havent even ordered it yet) but i will be sporting my Casual in the McKenzie tartan.
Well met CelticRanger. Noticed from your sig block you served in 1st cav. I served for 4 years in 1/1 cav in Germany after serving 3 years with 3AD 3/8 cav also in germany. I served mostly in lighthorse recon as their commo specialist. Loved it, although being in the field about 10 months out of the year got old after 8 years. LOL.
I've never been to the Heartland Fest. I'm about an hour west of KC proper, but it's a do-able drive in. My sister lives in Olathe, so I even have a place to crash if I need it.
