Dave,
We have to be very careful when discussing the current political situation in Northern Ireland, as we have members from the Republic, NI and the UK in general. Forum rules do not allow political discussions, and since "The Troubles" falls under that, I simply gave a reminder -- you responded to Daz's comment about Belfast being in the UK (which is correct, NI is part of the UK) with a comment that seemed to be looking to stir up trouble. It was meant as a general comment for both of you, since your reply was directed at Daz's original post.
If that is not the case, then my sincere apologies.
Regards,
Todd

My (non political ) point is that, as any visitor to the Emerald isle will tell you, there are very distinct cultural (as opposed to political) diffences between the republic and Ulster. id urge any visitor to experience both distinct flavours and put aside any preconceptions that you may have, I love both parts and its hard to make points about Ireland without drifting into political waters so i wont go there. other than to wish Greg a happy and productive stay.

Well said Daz. I loved both parts of Ireland and found some of the best people around in both parts of the country. Belfast is a great city.
It does have a different feel than some of the cities in the Republic though. It's a great city, but my impression was that there were still underlying issues. Stick with the locals and don't made the same mistakes as plastic paddys and tourists. Leave their politics to them and just enjoy all the area has to offer.
I only wish I had had the time to check out the Giant's causeway and Londonderry, but alas the Guinness brewery in Dublin was calling my name

I saw a programme recently which talked of Belfast being built on mud in a way that it's almost floating.
Take your wellies Greg just in case!
