I am well aware of the consequences of hitting the pavement at high rates of speed, been there done that. Ballistic nylon and leather can save a considerable amount of skin. I agree that the kilt would be distracting, but it could be tied down or tucked in if that is all you are worried about whilst riding kilted.

I ride in full leathers with padded armor that has saved me from serious injury once already. I would hate to think about what my legs would have looked like after hitting the pavement in a kilt.

Riding a motorcycle kilted could be tricky. I ride a Vespa. With the stepthrough frame & front panel it is easier.

That does look cool. I'm tempted to say that I would do it. But a good friend of mine (a former cop, and a fellow motorcyclist) would lecture me for hours if he heard that I was thinking of doing such a thing.

One of my motorcycles is a maxi-scooter, which as Dirk pointed out is a bit more practical for kilted riding than a conventional motorcycle. If used with "modesty closures" the rider might even be able to remain modest!

I also have a motorcycle with sidecar. Which would probably be the only way I would actually ride whilst kilted. (If you come-off whilst riding a sidecar rig, then things have already gone very very bad, so you are probably going to die anyway.)

I walked into a local coffee shop with a friend today and saw that the man behind the counter was wearing a green Utilikilt. One of the ladies working with him mentioned that he wore them all the time.
That was slightly off topic...but that made me go to their website and the first thing I saw there was a video entitled, "Call Me" featuring a guy riding around town in his kilt. Check it out!! It made me laugh.
