from Illinois. We seem to be having a run on Scottish/Celtic weddings the past several weeks on this forum. I'm sure with a little searching you'll find lots of good ideas.

Hi Linda,
Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your forthcoming wedding.
Regarding incorporating tartan into your wedding, just give free reign to your imagination.
For example at my own wedding, my wife had her dress maker use leftover tartan from my kilt, and surplus material from her wedding dress to make a cushion, on which our wedding rings were presented for their blessing.
It is a cherished keepsake fourteen years after the wedding.
Kind Regards,
David.

Thank you again for all the warm welcomes! I didn't think I'd come across more Davidson's and Farquharson's!!
There's a wealth of info on here and I'm having fun weeding through it all.
So far, the things we are most interested in are the sashing, and the quaich. We ordered a sash along with the kilt. And we are going to have the same sash material made into waist sashes for my bridesmaids (who are our daughters, we each have one).
He's been wanting a reason to buy a kilt for some time, and when he asked if I'd "allow" him to wear a kilt to our wedding, of course I said yes! And my dad has also been looking for an excuse to purchase a kilt, is very excited about getting to wear one as well. My mom was a bit shocked when he told her he'd never have to rent a tux again, but I think she'll enjoy the attention they'll get when he arrives at formal events in a kilt. (I personally don't think you need an excuse to buy a kilt, other than just the desire to have one, but I think it was a $$ thing for the both of them.)
Chris will be renting most of the formal items... the Prince Charlie and a formal sporran, but he'll be buying some of the others, like the belt, flashes, hose and shoes (I can say it, but I can't spell it) and the knife (same problem... but I'll learn, I promise!).
Getting to do all of this, he's very involved in the planning. He loves all things Scottish (with maybe an exception for the cuisine) so he's having a ball!!

I'll keep that in mind. I think he was leaning towards green and black?? Do they do "summer" hose? Lightweight so as to not make his poor feet melt?
