OK, folks. I've worked out all the details with Holly, the owner of the Celtic Tavern, same venue as in years past. http://www.conyersceltictavern.com/

We'll have the usual Burns fair--cock-a-leekee soup, haggis, neeps and tatties, and, (drum roll please), her famous whiskey bread pudding for dessert. We'll also have a bottle of MacAllan for the toasts, and shepherd's pie as an option to haggis for the faint of heart.

Cocktails begin at or about 4:00 (or earlier if you're quite hardy), and we'll plan to begin the festivities at 6:00 sharp. Soup is, the first course. The bar is open, and you pay your own tab. We'll have lots of Scottish music playing during the drinking hours. (I'm sure SothernScot and I will be there a good bit earlier than 4:00 so come drink if you like. Or gab, or watch, or whatever.)

Dinner is $14.00 +20% tip for the bar wenches who will take pretty good care of us. And there'll be plenty of food, so you can see it's not a bad price. Dinner out most places would cost more, and you wouldn't get to hear Burns poetry in the deal.

AtlantaKiltie can get us a piper (and a darned good one), but it'll coast an extra $100, a good price even for short piping, but it's not in the pub's budget, so if you folks want to get together and pony up an extra few bucks, talk to Ben.

There'll be kareoke after 8:30 or thereabouts, so we won't be competing with music like last year. But if you want to hang around and sing, you won't be lonely.

This will be quite a fine evening, and if you miss it, you'll rue the fact.

Dress is optional, though several of us will be somewhat dressy. I'll be in an argyl; SoutnernScot in PC. Others in sweaters. We do not stand on formality, so come however you like, just come on.

BTW, I will need the final headcount by Monday, so if you want to join, please sign on now.

OK, so how about it, Derek. I went and bought one of the really cool USMC hat pins like you got after you tipped me off, so you'll almost have to come see it.

The guys have already arranged for your transportation from Hartsfield, so just come on. If you like, we'll even hook you up with the motel.

It's on now, and you know you want to. All the kids are doing it.

I'm for it - It looks like we would have enough people there that it would only go $10-$15 per person. What's a Burns Dinner wi'out a piper?

Confirm with him and we'll shame everyone into it. In any case he won't get stiffed.

I think that 15 of us have signed up. Jim (The Scot) should be able to give us a definite number after this weekend. If so, that would be only $7 or so each, assuming everyone pays an equal share.

It's a great idea. In the event we have to compete with karaoke or acoustic music again, we will be well-armed.

Tell him that dinner is on us. We'll start the eating at 6:00, so if he wants to play a couple of tunes before dinner, we'll toast his health, his mother, his father, his wife, his girlfriend, his pipes, his kilt, his shoes, anything else we can think of, and his wee bairns. (And grandchildren if he has any.)

We'll espeically need his services to pipe in the haggis about 6:30 or so. We can't eat haggis until he pipes it in. (We will provide an armed gurad for the ceremony to protect the haggis and the piper and pipes.)

Just let us know whatie wants and/or needs, and we'll work it out.

Thanks a lot for geting Dennis. He's a really good piper.
