Thanks again for the history lesson - Its wonderful to add some photos to my understanding of Dalraida. I am also struck again by how much this area looks like the part of north Idaho I live in. Its almost uncanny - but then we probably share some similar geological processes and events.

I admit it's a year since I have been up the top of Dunadd, but when I was last there, what i saw was no composite replica, hence my comments, but if they have indeed protected it, then that's great, and agreed, a good job well done.
I will make the effort and take a look next week, by the way, where in Argyll are you, good to have a neighbour on here, pm me, we can perhaps meet up some time

I have no surviving photo's of the wee church behind the old house, but if you desire, I can pop up one day next week if the weather prevails and get a few shots for you

Dal Riada
Thanks! As part of the Dal Riada, the MacMartain group was situated in Kilmartin as their cultural and political center.

Dailraida
Thanks for the pictures. My Gillies ancestors were from around Kilmartin. Hope to get back to this part of Scotland.

Don't make a special trip on my account but I would love to see some of the wee kirk next time you are there.

Dunadd Boar protective covering
Confirmation that the rock with the boar carving was protected with a facsimile layer of artificial stone in 1978. http://www.rcahms.gov.uk/pls/portal/...numlink=212008
