Hmm. The cut steel buttons displayed above aren't to my taste.

I'm having a tweed jacket converted and sent the converter (?) these to put on:

The jacket's going to have a very traditional cut, guantlett sleeves, epaulettes. The buttons are my attempt to bring it a bit of a contemporary feel. Is it for everybody? Probably not, but I really like these buttons and want the jacket to reflect my personality a wee bit.

I like those buttons. Those will make a very nice alteration to an otherwise "uniform" look.

Hmmmmmm.... It would seem that buttons are another area that one, within limmits, can express some individuality either in the formal or non-formal Highland attire.

Look in the Yellow Pages under "plating and anodizing". You can also try a black epoxy finish which you may be able to get at your local crafts store or hobby shop. If all else fails head out to a gun shop and get a bottle of Brownell's "cold blue" and see if that works-- or ask the gunsmith to "blue" them for you.

I like the idea of having buttons made of silver, but in the shape of the commen, round four-hole button. Something about the simplisity.
