Clan Maxwell! I forgot that Kirk is a sept of Clan Maxwell, and are entitled to wear the Maxwell tartan as well as the Kirk tartan. The Maxwell tartan is more widely available (and probably cheaper) from most outlets. The Kirk tartan was designed in the last ten years or so, and was based on the older Maxwell tartan. The overall design is the same, except that the Kirk tartan adds a pair of yellow lines.
