F-H.C.A.G. and Panache,
So good to hear from you guys again. I had a question though about this thread. I was a little confused as to whether Jaime's kilt was the heavyweight wool or the standard acrylic from SWK?
I have my suspicions, knowing how dedicated you both are, but just wanted to confirm as I am about to order my second kilt from SWK. Probably the Standard in Black Stewart. Can or should the process that you have described above also be done on the Acrylic kilts?
Thank you and I hope to see you both again real soon.

If you are going to move the buckles and underapron strap, be aware that the buckle tabs on the Stillwater kilt are sewn on partly by the fell stitching. You will need to resew part of the fell on the pleat that the buckle tabs extend under on your right hand side.
Also, the underapron strap is attached between the facing folds with a single line of stitching that also holds the facing and lining together in that area. Much of the stitching holds multiple parts and layers of the Stillwater kilts together, so careful planning is needed when moving or removing parts for alterations.
Once I have the kilt in-hand, expect me to pester you for some more precise directions... If you or anyone else has experience in this regard, and you'd like to make a pre-emptive posting, I would be more than happy to be "fore-warned is fore-armed."
The spirit of the Declaration of Arbroath (6 April 1320) abides today, defiantly resisting any tyranny that would disarm, disperse and despoil proud people of just morals, determined to keep the means of protecting their families and way of life close at hand.

Fluter would probably be the best to talk to on this because he has more experience with Stillwater kilts. The Wizard of BC might also be able to advise you. Though I have done major alterations on my Lamont tartan Stillwater, and it fits much more properly now, it is the only kilt I have altered.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

All models. Not isolated. If you'll be throwing in it, alterations may not be worth it. Nobody will be examining the left hand side side of your apron. They'll be more concerned about your form, stance and whether you turn the caber. If you can get over 40 ft on the stone throw, turn the caber at 12:00, and get the weight over the bar at 18 feet, they won't CARE what you're wearing. It could be a tablecloth wrapped around your waist. Most are wearing SportKilts anyway.

It was wool (and it smelled odd when we washed it, not sure what treatment was done on it). But acrylic can be altered in exactly the same way (but go ahead and machine wash it).
We look forward to seeing you again too! When are you coming up?
Be well,
Star

Thanks for clearing that up for me, I will happily take what ever numbers I can get! I was looking the Sportkilts as well.
