The wind, it howled, the rain it stung as it thrashed us 'bout the ears,
The bosun said "A storm like this comes once in 20 years."
The cook poured out our rations, he said t'would keep us warm,
"Tis just a dram of Nelson's blood, t'wont do you any harm."
Come sunrise, the skies were clear, a good wind at our back,
The porpoises were silver grey, all the seals were black.
We made our port in Barbados and off-loaded our fish
And loaded up with Newfie Screech as was the owners wish.
I'm now back home where all is well, in fact a bit ho hum.
So shut yer gob ye landlubber and pass me o'er the rum.

Thankee Sir. When I was out in Frisco, I had the pleasure of spending an evening aboard the "Balclutha" (Built in Glasgow), singing sea chantys all evening. Good time. That "Drop of Nelson's blood" line reminded me of that.

Rum. A good rum is hard to beat.
Not necessarily in preferential order: Pusser's, Goslin's Black Seal, Bacardi Select, and my fav: Ron Zapata, 23yo from Guatamala.

I know that this may seem a bit blasphemous, but you've not lived until you've tried it. I call it Pirate's Pork.
I marinate a pork loin in a blend of Pusser's and Everglades brand spice mix for 12 hours, then cook for at least 8 hours in a low oven.
With black beans and rice. (use your own recipe; mine's not for sale!)
If I'm ambitious, I serve it with a three water grog!
'A damned ill-conditioned sort of an ape. It had a can of ale at every pot-house on the road, and is reeling drunk. "

Ok:
Here are my personal Rankings (Approximate rankings, depending on my mood. I hate to pick favorites):
1. Smugglers Cove (A Black/Dark Rum)
2. Screech
3. Goslings (Black Seal. The Amber one with the ship is nice, but not as good)
4. Old Monk (From India, of all places. Tastes best neat. I can't find it in the liquor store anymore)
5. Mount Gay (Aged varieties are better, and I would probably rank these higher than the normal Mount Gay, which I really enjoy)
6. Old Sam
7. Captain Morgan (Aged is better and probably would)
8. Lambs Navy
9. Lambs
Bacardi (Black/Dark or White) I'm not that fond of, however.
I know I'm missing a few of my favorites. Rum is generally my drink of choice, but I enjoy Scotch and Irish Whiskey as well. I believe that I am drinking lambs in that picture, if my memory serves me correctly.
