I"m afraid that my Broad Scot is not all that good but did I read you right in that your son died in Kansas? If so I'm terribly sorry for your loss. That is indeed a long way from home.

Here is the way I'm translating this:
Hello all you wonderful loons and quines...(Ok, loons and quines has defeated me although loons works well in English for this rabble).
This is a great site for descendants of Scots that immigrated to America (My own interjection: we are a majority from the US but we have members around the world) and I have noticed a lot of patriotic Scots when I'm a long way from home. It was fine to see many highland Gatherings with many excellent sights. One or two numptys but you get that everywhere.
Before you ask me to speak in my own dialect you can hear me on Youtube as Melodeonjohn. Scots that have always known me know that I always speak in Broad Scot. I was born in Aberdeenshire to a Scottish traveling family and am always willing to help anyone wanting to know about Scotland.
I have been to America; my only son died in Kansas last year - a long way from home. Not the same to die across the water.
Hope to get to know you all better.
Jock
I hope I'm fairly close.
And welcome again.
