That sounds like a plan!
I'd say it's pretty much perfect day wear with a shirt and tie.
Here's a good reference (not me on the far right):

Some other xmarkers wearing nice, smart daywear to The Gathering.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Thanks Paul, I think my initial plan then is:
1) Argyll Jacket
2) Dress Shirt w/tie
3) MacLean Hunting Ancient Kilt
4) Muskrat Full Mask Sporran
5) Green hose w/flashes and Sgian Dhu
6) Black leather Oxford shoes
7) Balmoral Bonnet w/ Clan Crest
Thoughts?

I'd say this is a good start, I think though as the saying goes that the devil is in the details, with that in mind I would suggest the tie be a wool tie in a secondary colour found in your tartan, and the flashes should perhaps be one colour rather than tartan flashes, and you would do well to use red. Another thing to keep in mind would be that the Balmoral is of course only worn outdoors. Something else that just struck me, when wearing my Muskrat sporran from Ferguson Britt I wear it with brown leathers as the fur is brown, as this is a day wear outfit perhaps brown shoes would be a better fit. Of course you should add a pocket square to your lapel pocket, besides that Ithink you are well on your way to having a smashing outfit.

My outfit
Ahh McMurdo, you are a saint. You see, this is the kind of info I need to know....thank you. OK...dumb question...what is a pocket square?
I do have some nice brown leather shoes that will work I think.
McMurdo, I was advised to order a fly plaid at the same time I order my kilt so that it all comes off of the same run of fabric. Is there an occasion when I would wear a fly plaid? Burns night, wedding, etc? I think only formal occasions right?
Give me your input please?
Thanks,
Eric

Thanks Sydnie 7, you have educated me on pocket patches aka hankerchiefs...hmmm, I must find a few as I am starting to see what style really looks like. Remember all, I am from the "boondocks", living on a 70 acre horse ranch so stylish clothes out here consist of Wrangler Jeans, Brush Popper shirts, Tony Lama lace up ropers and of course my Wrangler or Steston Cowboy hat......see why this is all so new to me? LOL
Thanks again,
Eric

Others will advise differently, but if I were you I would save your money on a fly plaid. If at a later date you decide you want one---I cannot think why you should------ then of course go and buy one. Don't worry if the colours do not match too closely(same tartan though) it is not a faux pas. See if you can find some pictures of the Atholl Highlanders, you will note that they wear at least three shades of the same tartan.

As Jock said, others will advise differently. If it were me I'd save my money for something else, yes the fly plaid would be used for formal situations. I do not own one and in 3 years of full time kilt wearing I'd say I've not had the occasion to wear one. I've been to several Burns Nights, and have recently got married, though a fly plaid was not part of any ensemble of mine. Of course if you like the look of it and want to wear one go ahead. Some people will tell you to get it from the same run of cloth, however again as Jock says it is not a serious faux pas if it is a slightly different shade, you could always tell anyone who comments (which they won't) that it was your Grandfather's this will redeem you in anyone's eyes. However many, myself included view the fly plaid as over the top.

Thanks for posting the photos! It's good to see the variations (albeit slight) on the same "idea" of the ancient tartan. And while I have the modern red MacLean, seeing the weathered version in your photo makes me want to add that to the list as well! I like how subtle it is.
Cheers!
