    Another thought on this would be to wear your clan tartan whatever it may be. It is always most appropriate.

    I had a winter scarf in the MacDonald Dress tartan which, with the white interspercing (is that the right word?) the regular MacDonald pattern, used to impress young women as "Christmasy". So I wore it!
