I have a leather "flap" sporran my wife bought me when I started wearing a kilt. I didn't like the fact that the flap could not secure sine I pack a lot of stuff in there. Two pieces of velcro and it stays closed, and no problems with snaps.

Snap? Mine closes with a stud that pushes through a "keyhole" slit on the flap. couldn't be simpler. I suspect that one of the problems in opening-closing a sporran comes from the fact that it isn't "broken in". All of my sporrans are at least 40 years old and well broken in, so they open and close... like a snap!

Eek! MacMillan of Rathdown's sporrans were born before I was...

We used to tape them to the front of our kilts with doubled over 'black nasty' tape. The same tape the SAS put over their faces when being photographed. I can't show you how this works on a photo because the black nasty is concealed behind the sporran but the SAS look like this:
The 'Eathen in his idleness bows down to wood and stone,
'E don't obey no orders unless they is his own,
He keeps his side arms awful,
And he leaves them all about,
Until up comes the Regiment and kicks the 'Eathen out.

Another vote for Thorfin.
I have a daywear from him, I have no problems with it.

I can open my sporran, pull out what I need, and close it again, with no effort at all.
I don't wear any hunting sporrans at all. But I also don't have those accursed snaps on my flaps either. I have a casual leather that has an exterior loop go round what amounts to a button. The rest of my sporrans are masks that simply stay down. I think sporran design ought to be simple and useful... snaps tend to create more problems than they solve.

I'm not fond of that style, personally. It's a bit too primitive for my tastes, but to each their own, of course. Here's the sporran in question (and, yes, I did intentionally cut off my own head when cropping the photo).

I'm another Turpin fan. The flaps are changable to afford different looks, and the fastener system is simple and works. Some of the flaps are substantial enough to stay closed without the tie.
