Jock, Thanks for this thread. In its entirety. Wonderful insight into "how it IS
done, and more than wonderful to see your fine family together. It certainly
demonstrates the difference in styles of hunting. Where I grew up, pounding through the woods at breakneck speeds on moonless nights with briers ripping at every surface, and creeks ankle deep or over your head, and the dogs yelling that the coon was too hard to handle and help needed, you can't stop to rest. A big coon can kill even an experienced dog if he catches him right,
and so you have to try your dead-level best to stay close enough to jump in, and hope the dogs stay together. In that sort of circumstance, I've never seen ties, and you don't want to imagine the response that the good ole boys I grew up with would have to them. And swamps would be the end of of them in short order. It is, however, absolutely a joy to see you in your milieu.
And I still love the shoes.

Jock, I should've asked earlier:
who's the maker/manufacturer of these shoes?

I have just read the old thread and there I say that the flaps are detachable which in some cases they are, but I have not seen those about for some time. The ones in the picture have non detachable flaps which actually is much handier.
"Hill shoes"

jock's shoes
Terry, in the earlier thread "not a boot, not a brogue" Jock posted a picture and noted that they came from Hoggs of Fife. On their site enter "hill shoe".
One hundred fifty-nine pounds. (link function does not work for me)

Much appreciated - thanks!
After reviewing the recommended thread, I realized I had seen & commented on these same shoes before

correction/clarification. The site is Fife Country. "Enter hill shoes" in search window, Hoggs hill shoe appears.

Thanks again!
I just spent a frustrating search on the Hoggs of Fife website. Very nice shoes there, but no "hill shoes".

Quite right. I should add that these shoes cannot be described in any way as dancing pumps and neither do they offer any ankle support, however they rate a 10/10 score from me. A wee tip, get them half a size bigger than your normal shoe so that you can put one or even two pairs of short thin socks over your long woolen hose to add to the precise fit, warmth, and superb all day comfort that these shoes give whilst out in the country. I might add that the look of them when taken from the box will raise an eyebrow as they are designed rather differently from most shoes.
Tripleblessed, oh how I wish I could have another go at my life! I would just love to have a go at "coon" (raccoon??) hunting, but at my age all I can do is use my imagination about those sort of things!

Thanks Jock (& Tripleblessed)!
Here's the link for the Fife Country homepage for anyone interested.
