pleats are kept better in a right hand drive car as when you slide in the pleats are facing the right way

And... I'm going to try the towel idea. Maybe even give the belt thing a try, but I like the towel thing, I can just sit on it while driving and leave it in the car.

The towel idea wouldn't work for me, but the belt trick works quite well.

And as for "darn 'Mericans" well, you can always request your pleats fashioned flowing to the left for driving 'Merican cars!

You're right though, I haven't figured out why 'Mericans aren't "smart enough" to handle transitioning to metric.
