Duh. Okay, I could tell he was trying to define some parameters for the expectations of the rest of the crew, fortunately. So I just said something like, "Well, the very meaning of the term implies surviving through adversity. That requires recognizing and appropriately responding to the reality of any situation, not to your fantasy of what you would like reality to be."

So, in consequence, they basically ignored almost everything I said AND only worked me in there for about 3.5 minutes of the show.

Well, I think we can all identify with the tendency of most people to refuse to allow facts to interfere with a good, preconceived notion. (Besides, this is Myth Busters and they are interested in the myths that the average North American would be familiar with, not so much the realities.) The end result here is that you helped where you could, remained true to yourself (and the tradition) and looked good doing it!

    I got to ask, Dale...

Did they ask about walking through walls or staring at goats?

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Well, walking UP walls and trees anyway. And I 'splained that, and how it's done, and through hard-won experience how NOT to do it.

The psychically-making-the-goat-go-tits-up thing, though, not so much. We were more into poisons.

Dale, next time I'm in SF I'd love to stop by your dojo and train for a bit! I look forward to meeting you in person!

If my sensei were not as good as Dale, I would agree! It's a privelage to know not one, but two world class martial arts instructors. And speaking of which, we had our monthly stretching class tonight... I'm so sore... Gonna go take some ibuprophin now.

    Pain is it's own reward!
Give thanks for your pain and ask for more!

Hope the thumb is healing, Hawk.

Well, I have my full range of motion again. It's still a little tender, but not bad! Thanks for asking. Darned cocky 13 year old... (Of course, he has a good reason to be cocky... He's getting quick!)
