Re: Kilt Debut: Christmas & Anniversary
Is this the model you are referring to?

I have been eyeing that one up, but, frankly, the lanyard doesn't thrill me much. However, for daywear, it would certainly fill the bill.
With the garter ties, in my mind they were "stiff," and perhaps even just a tad too short (only talking an inch or so). Just enough to make tying them troublesome. As for the bulk under the cuff, it looked like I had grown an extra ankle on my calf. But I suppose that's just the way they look.

Re: Kilt Debut: Christmas & Anniversary
Congratulations friend on a fine look. I like the suggestion to mix up the claret hose with the grey silks, and a splash of flash or garter. I like it even more that you are wearing your kilt to church. The folks will love it, talk lots about it, and eventually relax and see it as part of who you are. I have yet to get totally used to wearing a kilt under an alb. But, it works. A fine turn out to my eye. Best of the New Year.

Well aware of the "Picard Maneuver," Jaime! (Seems to me Kirk only adjusted his tunic after a fight, after a woman, or when he was embarrassed, but I digress...)
So, the front apron is going to rise up no matter what, it's just a matter of adjusting it from time to time (especially when the wife is taking a picture). Like checking the length of your shirt cuff under your jacket. Got it. Thanks!

You look great. No nit picking from here. Wonderful to hear your kilt-in-church debut went well (as it shoud have,) And, congratulations on your 30th anniversary. You were married the same day were were (12/26) but we have you by many years. My mother-in-law remarked how nice it was not to have to decorate the church for the wedding.

Of course I removed the vest and sporran under my alb since it would make it too difficult to properly tie the cinture. But it was comfy!
I told a young pastor (who commented on my picture on facebook) to think of the kilt as a very short cassock with a better color scheme. Suggested he should "rush right out" and get one for himself. We'll see...

I was about to mention that you could/should wear your pin higher up on the apron. For bigger pins, it is more comfortable and there is less chances of catching it on anything. I personally don't wear a pin on the bottom of the apron. Still, for a 1st timer, you look great..... ( I wish I looked as good the first time I wore mine )

LOL! Yeah, Deb and I had a candlelight service (6:30 PM) that pretty much was a repeat of the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. Poinsettias, window candles, greens, the whole shooting match. We rented the American Legion hall for our reception. They already had their Christmas party, so the hall was festooned in maroon and white decorations, the same colors my wife had picked for our wedding. Made life very easy for us, especially since I was home on leave and my time was limited.
Congratulations to you and your bride, with wishes for many more years of wedded bliss.

Thanks, Eric. And I especially like your tag line. (As one who is old enough to remember ST: TOS as a "first run" and it's subsequent...and disappointing...cancellation!)

I can't remember) a moulded leather one.
